Penda Health, Kasha in deal to ease contraceptive access

Healthcare solution provider Penda Health has entered a partnership with Kasha Technologies that will enable it to increase access to its contraceptive products via Kasha digital platform. After launching in Rwanda in 2016, Kasha expanded their digital platform into Kenya in 2019.

Recent data from Guttmacher Institute show that need for modern contraception in Kenya by unmarried, sexually active adolescent stands at 44 per cent while that for married adolescent women is 32 percent as of 2019. “We aim to assist all women to access the right method, product and service they need to make an informed contraceptive choice,” said Salome Mwaura, Penda Health Director of External Affairs in a statement.

She said they will employ Kasha and modern technology to help the women access the services and boost health care stakeholders’ reachability to all patients. Penda Health will support Kasha by providing contraceptive counseling to those individuals referred by Kasha and administer the patient’s desired method as eligible. Patrick Russell, Kasha Director of Partnerships welcomed the pact, saying it will to extend the firm’s contraceptive offering and give women the opportunity to visit a trusted partner for additional in person services. – Bernard Sigei
