When worry follows you everywhere
Stress can be part of life. When it begins stealing sleep, concentration or joy, talking to someone can be a practical next step—not a last resort.

Anxiety becomes a health concern when fear or worry is hard to control, lasts over time or interferes with daily life. Effective support is available, and you do not need to wait for a crisis.
Sometimes the body speaks before you do
Anxiety can look like constant worry, racing thoughts, irritability, poor concentration, muscle tension, nausea, a fast heartbeat or difficulty sleeping. You may still be going to work and caring for everyone else while feeling exhausted inside. That still counts. Support is not only for the moment when everything falls apart.
Start with the most honest sentence you have
You do not need a perfect explanation. “I have not felt like myself,” “I cannot switch my mind off,” or “I am struggling to cope” is enough to begin. A counsellor can help you name what is happening, notice patterns and practise useful skills. A clinician can also check whether a physical condition or medicine may be contributing.
Small routines help, but they are not a moral test
Regular sleep, movement, meals, less alcohol and time with trusted people can support mental health. They are not proof that you are trying hard enough, and they do not replace care when symptoms are persistent or severe. Choose one manageable step instead of turning recovery into another impossible to-do list.
Penda support can begin privately
Virtual therapy is available through Chat na Penda, and in-person therapists are available at selected Medical Centers. You can ask the central WhatsApp team which option is available and choose the setting that feels right.
Get immediate help if you are not safe
If you may harm yourself or someone else, feel unable to stay safe, are severely confused or are in immediate danger, go to the nearest emergency department or contact local emergency services now.
